Germany is not protected from the Russian "Oreshnik" missile system, the German Foreign Ministry believes, writes Bild. Berlin is worried, in particular, about Russia's plans to deploy "Oreshnik" in Belarus in the second half of 2025 in response to the deployment of American missiles in Germany.
According to the newspaper, the administration of Minister Annalena Barbok, together with the air defense experts of the Bundeswehr and the Ministry of Defense, ordered the preparation of a secret report of the internal government on the defense of Ukraine and Germany against ballistic missiles. Germany, apart from the Patriot complexes, has no effective weapons against ballistic missiles, the publication notes.
The Patriot is not suitable for countering long-range ballistic missiles such as the Oreshnik missile, according to the classified document.
The report also states that the German government has decided to purchase the Israeli Arrow anti-missile defense system as an additional defense.
