Putin signed a law on renaming Rostov

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law renaming the city of Rostov in the Yaroslavl Region to Mets Rostov.

The relevant document is posted on the official website of legal acts, writes RIA Novosti. According to the signed law, the city of Rostov, Rostov region, Yaroslavl region, is renamed Mets.

The official response of the Government of the Russian Federation stated that the addition of the word "Great" to the name of the city of Rostov will allow to legally consolidate the traditionally used name formed throughout history, and will also correspond to the status of the city as a significant historical and cultural center.
