Poland, which will take over the EU presidency from January next year, and the new European Commission plan to develop new, maximum wide-ranging sanctions against liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the Russian nuclear industry, Politico claims, reports Ria Novosti.
The material of the publication indicates that the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, has long called for the tightening of sanctions against Russia.
It is noted that ahead of Poland's presidency of the European Council, Tusk made it clear that he wants to "raise barriers to Russian LNG imports into the EU", as well as target nuclear technologies and the fuel supply chain.
The publication emphasizes that now "the door to tougher measures" against Russia may be open.
