Ukraine received $1 billion from Russian assets that were frozen in the United States, Prime Minister Denis Shmihal announced. The Ukrainian side plans to receive another $19 billion from the United States from the use of Russian assets.
"Thank you to our American partners and the World Bank for this important step towards justice," Schmihal wrote on his Telegram channel.
In June, the G7 countries announced their decision to provide $50 billion to Ukraine using the proceeds from frozen Russian assets The European Union will provide another $20 billion, and the remaining $10 billion will be provided by Canada, Japan and United Kingdom.
After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the European Union, Canada, the United States and Japan froze Russian assets of about $300 billion, the United States has about $5-6 billion, and Europe has about $210 billion.
