Monitoring works were carried out in a number of monuments

In the framework of the current monitoring, the employees of the Ministry of Civil Engineering visited a number of monuments in order to study their current condition, supervise the ongoing excavations, fixing, repair and restoration works and discuss the problems that have arisen. This is reported by KGSMN.

As a result of the visit to the Yerevan Chess House, it was found that there are torn, cracked, broken, displaced slabs in the lining of the outer walls, incidents and dangers of rockfalls, water seepages are noticeable in the perimeter parts of the roof, moisture infiltrations are present in the parts of the underground areas, etc. Accordingly, there was a need to carry out seismic surveys of the technical condition of the structure. Then a design proposal will be made, after approval of which the relevant construction works will be carried out.

The professional group visited the Translator's Church of Aygeshat community of Armavir marz, RA, in order to get acquainted with the progress of restoration works started last year. The need for new design solutions related to anchoring was discussed on site.

In the current year, it is planned to start the restoration and strengthening of the early bronze age dwellings, the medieval complex and the wall of the "Agarak" historical and cultural reserve of Aragatsotn marz. The experts studied the current state of the monument and the ramparts before the restoration works. The restoration work will begin after the signing of the copyright control agreement.

The working group also visited Chesar Orbelyan's Palace (Chesar's Gate) in Hors village, Vayots Dzor region, RA, and the adjacent church, where the excavation works of the monument are underway within the framework of the grant given to the "Historical-Cultural Reserve-Museums and Historic Environment Preservation Service" SNOC. In parallel with the excavations, the preparation of design estimate documents for the repair, fixing and restoration of the same monuments ordered by the Ministry in 2023 is being carried out. During the visit, the current issues were discussed with the head of the community and the residents living near the excavated areas, in particular, the relocation of a part of the community road to continue the church excavations, the issue of recognizing the land next to the house of one of the residents as a public interest and returning it to the monument. Obstacles will be removed within the framework of the agreements reached.

In order to study the current state of endangered monuments, the professional group visited the Arets monastery complex of Vayots Dzor. The semi-finished monument group consists of several chapels, churches and vestibules (X-XIII centuries). Currently, the monument is in a dilapidated state, the quarter has collapsed, the large stones of the arches have turned around their axis and are on the verge of destruction. As a result of on-site measurements, the professional group proposed a temporary solution for the partial preservation of the neighborhood. The issue of including the monument restoration work in the medium-term expenditure plan in the coming years was discussed.

The last monument of the visit was the Zorats Church of Vayots Dzor (XIV century). Here, with the funds of the benefactor, repair of the roofs and improvement of the area are planned. The draft budget documents were agreed with the Ministry in accordance with the law.
