Julani stated that Israel should withdraw from the positions it occupied in Syria

Syria will not become a springboard for attacks against Israel, and Israel must withdraw from the areas in western Syria that it took control of when the opposition forces attacked Damascus.

In an interview with The Times, Ahmed al-Sharaa, the head of the armed forces that came to power in Damascus, known by the nickname Abu Mohammed al-Julani, said this. "Israel explained this in the presence of Hezbollah and Iranian militias, but it is no longer relevant. - said al-Sharaa.

- We remain committed to the 1974 agreement and we are ready for the return of the UN (observers). We do not want a conflict with Israel or anyone and we will not allow Syria to be used as a springboard for attacks. The Syrians need peace, the strikes must stop. and Israel must retreat from the positions it previously occupied."

The leader of the armed group also announced the need to cancel the sanctions against Syria and create conditions for the return of residents who left the country earlier.

"Syria is of extremely important geostrategic importance. They (Western countries) must remove all restrictions imposed on both the executioner and the victim. The issue is not subject to discussion," al-Julani said. He added that he also expects "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" to be removed from the lists of terrorist groups in which it is included by some states. Julani also considered the upcoming political transition in Syria to be a "long process".

Speaking about the possibility of establishing sharia laws in the country, he expressed the opinion that "Syria will not cross the sphere of personal freedoms", but added that the new authorities will take into account Islamic customs.
