The newly elected US President Donald Trump has stated that Turkey is behind the overthrow of President Bashar Assad's government in Syria. As "TASS" reports, Trump made this statement at the meeting with journalists.
"No one knows who is behind the other side (of the new Syrian government). It is Turkey. He (Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan) is a very smart person," he said is the US president. Syrian anti-government forces captured Damascus on December 8 without any resistance.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Syrian President Bashar Assad, after negotiations with a number of participants in the Syrian conflict, decided to resign and leave Syria, ordering a peaceful transfer of power.
