As a result of the explosion that took place in Moscow, the head of the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Armed Forces (RKKPZ) Igor Kirilov was killed, "Kommersant" reports, citing the report of the Russian Investigative Committee. Another serviceman, the assistant lieutenant general, also died.
A criminal case has been initiated in the main investigative department of the Russian Investigative Committee in Moscow. The explosion took place at 2/1 Ryazansky Ave. The Investigative Committee reports that an explosive device was set off, which was placed in a scooter parked near the house. According to "RIA Novosti", the capacity of the explosive device was about 200 g TNT equivalent.
"Investigators, criminologists, operative services are working at the scene. Investigative and operative-search operations are being undertaken in order to find out all the circumstances of the committed crime," said Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Investigative Committee.
Lieutenant General Kirilov was 54 years old. Since 2017, he holds the position of the head of RKKPZ. Igor Kirilov participated in the process of creating and weaponizing the TOS-2, "Tosochka" system.
