The President of Uruguay, Luis Lacal Pou, congratulated Yamanda Orsi, the candidate of the opposition center-left coalition "Broad Front" party, on the occasion of the victory in the second round of the presidential elections.
"I called Yamandu Orsi to congratulate him as our country's president-elect," Lakal Poon wrote on X.
He also announced his readiness to start the process of transferring power.
On November 24, the second round of presidential elections was held in Uruguay. Exit polls showed a convincing lead for Orsi.
His opponent was Alvaro Delgado, the candidate of the ruling center-right "National Party".
The inauguration of the elected president of Uruguay will take place on March 1, 2025.
