The United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) patrol in Lebanon came under fire in the south of the country. This is stated in the message published on their Telegram channel.
"On November 16, a UNIFIL patrol made up of French and Finnish peacekeepers carried out their tasks in the village of Bedias, where a group, including at least one armed person, was trying to prevent free movement.
The patrolmen managed to bypass the barrier and continue the planned route. About an hour later, when the patrol had just passed the village of Maarake, fire was opened on them, and about 40 shots were fired from behind, probably by representatives of non-state groups," the text states.
Although bullet holes were found on some of the patrol vehicles, the peacekeepers themselves were not injured, according to the report. They immediately informed the Lebanese army about what happened.
