The silent participation of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, in the ongoing COP29 conference in Baku deserves special attention, which is a telling example of hypocrisy, double standards, betraying the fundamental values of the European Union.
A man who was one of the godfathers of Pashinyan's criminal statement to recognize Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, at least bears responsibility for the consequences of the process he propagated. And the consequence of that process is the complete depopulation of Artsakh, the ethnic cleansing carried out there, and the increasing number of Armenian prisoners of war in Baku prisons.
Therefore, voicing the demand for the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war is a minimal moral duty for Charles Michel personally.
At the same time, the fact that as a result of various activities carried out for about 6 months, many, including EU member states, whose leaders were present at previous similar events, did not participate in COP29 at a high level is worthy of appreciation.
The fair statements of the parliaments of various countries, including the European Parliament, which condemned not only the holding of COP29 in Baku, but also, in general, the politics of that country, including the ethnic cleansing in Artsakh, the military-political leadership of Artsakh and Armenians, is worthy of appreciation and an important achievement. imprisonment of prisoners and flagrant violations of human rights.
"We expect from all our partners participating in the conference direct condemnation of the crimes committed by Azerbaijan in Artsakh and voice the demand for the immediate release of all Armenian prisoners," Saghatelyan wrote.
