The Danish government has received approval from the parliament's finance committee for the further purchase of drones, the Kingdom's Ministry of Defense said in a statement. It emphasizes the need to enhance the use of drones for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, as well as to acquire a system capable of "effectively and rapidly" countering enemy drones. "The experience on the Ukrainian front clearly shows the important role of drones and the ability to counter them on the battlefield.
Therefore, the Danish Armed Forces must quickly strengthen this aspect," said Danish Defense Minister Jeppe Brus.
In 2025, the Danish Armed Forces purchased four long-range drones at a total cost of 7.5 billion kroner ($1.145 billion). The Ministry of Defense does not disclose the exact number of drone systems or the specific models being purchased this time.
The price has also not been disclosed, although the ministry notes that the funding is provided within the framework of funds already allocated for arming the armed forces.
