Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday during talks between Tehran and Washington in Geneva that the range and type of Iranian missiles are not the business of the United States.
"Having restraints is a necessity. Any country without deterrence will be defeated by its enemies, but the Americans try to intervene on the issue of weapons, saying: “You cannot have this type of missile or missiles with this range. However, this issue does not concern them," Khamenei said, according to Fars news agency. Negotiations between Iran and the United States are currently underway in Geneva, with the mediation of Oman.
The parties are trying to reach an agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue. Tehran demands the lifting of sanctions in exchange for a willingness to guarantee the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, while the United States wants to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons; programs that Tehran has repeatedly denied.
