Iran and the United States are discussing the details of the lifting of sanctions and the nuclear issue during the negotiations to be held in Geneva, the spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghai, announced.
"The negotiations are very serious and we have started discussing the details of two issues: the lifting of sanctions and the nuclear issue," Baghai told IRNA. Iran and the United States are currently holding talks in Geneva, mediated by Oman. The two sides are trying to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear program.
Tehran is demanding sanctions relief in exchange for a commitment to guarantee the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, while the United States wants to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, which Tehran has repeatedly denied.
