US President Donald Trump refused to answer the question about the possibility of US military action against Cuba.
"I don't want to answer that," he said when asked if he was considering an operation in Cuba similar to the one carried out by the United States in Venezuela.
"It won't be a very difficult operation, but I don't think it's necessary," he told reporters on his plane during a flight from Florida to Washington. According to the White House, the US administration is currently negotiating with Havana. "We are talking to Cuba now, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is talking to Cuba now," he said, adding that he believes the Cuban authorities "should make a deal" with Washington.
The United States has resumed the blockade of Cuba, announcing its intention to overthrow the communist government of the republic, one way or another. In particular, Washington has imposed a ban on all supplies of fuel, which is already in short supply on the island.
The US had previously suspended oil supplies from Mexico and Venezuela to Cuba. The US administration has also announced its intention to impose proportional import tariffs on goods from countries that supply fuel to Cuba. However, the Russian Embassy in Havana announced that Moscow would soon begin supplying oil and oil products as humanitarian aid.
