Turkic scholar Varuzhan Geghamyan writes:
"The big UN climate conference known as COP29 will take place in Azerbaijan in the middle of November.
This event is important for Azerbaijan in several ways, from raising the country's international reputation to the indirect international legitimization of the genocide in Artsakh. That event could not have taken place in Azerbaijan if last year, 2023. in December, the de facto government of Armenia vetoed the relevant UN resolution.
Or something else could have been done. taking into account the large-scale preparations already made by Baku, it was possible to enter into diplomatic negotiations and demand, for example, the return of all Armenian prisoners of war or the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from a part of the international borders of Armenia, in exchange for not vetoing. However, as you know, no similar demand was made.
On the contrary, it was announced that Armenia is in favor of holding COP29 in Baku as a manifestation of goodwill. This is another vivid example of the fact that in the face of the de facto rulers of Armenia, we are dealing with the tyrannical government of Azerbaijan and Turkey and not the force protecting the interests of Armenia. And to expect that the Turkish-Azerbaijani duo will allow any serious and national program to be implemented in Armenia is naive to say the least."
