RIA Novosti found out after studying Eurostat data that last year Belgium pushed Spain out of the three largest buyers of Russian gas.
Belgium's total imports of Russian gas to the EU rose to 13% last year, compared to 7% the previous year, moving the country from seventh place to third place in the ranking of the largest buyers of Russian natural gas.
France and Hungary kept the first and second places, the departments of both countries also showed positive dynamics. France - from 20% to 24% last year, and Hungary - from 17% to 21%.
