Elections to the unicameral parliament (Kurultai) of Kazakhstan, in case of the adoption of the draft of the new constitution, can be announced in July 2026. This is mentioned in the draft of the basic law, which was published in the newspaper "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda".
According to the draft document, the parliament of Kazakhstan, which was formed in accordance with the constitution of August 30, 1995, terminates its powers on July 1, 2026.
"Kurulta elections must be announced by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan within one month and held within two months from the date of entry into force of the constitution," the document states.
The republican referendum on the draft of the new constitution will be held on March 15. One question is put to the referendum:
"Do you accept the new constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the draft of which was published in mass media on February 12, 2026?"
