Japan's ruling party, led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, won the parliamentary elections.

In Sunday's lower house election, the ruling alliance of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Japan's Restoration Society could win two-thirds of the seats, securing a constitutional majority. This is shown by an exit poll conducted by the Japanese public broadcaster NHK.

According to polls conducted by NHK in 4,000 polling stations across the country, the ruling bloc could win more than 310 seats, securing a constitutional majority that could pave the way for constitutional changes long sought by the LDP and Prime Minister Takaichi. NHK also predicts that the LDP will secure an outright majority (more than 233 seats), and in the best case, up to 274 seats.
