According to him, “Lebanon now has a much better chance of a political settlement and ceasefire, primarily due to its status as a sovereign state and membership in the UN.” In this regard, the international community looks at the fighting on Lebanese territory “somewhat differently than in Gaza” and “insists on an immediate truce so that the same scenario does not repeat in Lebanon” as in the Palestinian enclave, Abdel Fattah emphasized.
In his opinion, “American mediators are making much more efforts to resolve the situation in Lebanon” than in Gaza, which also increases the chances of a quick truce.
In addition, the analyst is confident that Israel is also ready to agree to a ceasefire in the situation with Lebanon, since it meets its plans for resolving conflicts in the region and at the same time contradicts the strategy of Iran and its allies.
