Mexican authorities intend to settle the problem of oil supplies diplomatically, avoiding confrontation, and in the meantime humanitarian aid will be sent to the island. This is stated in the statement released by the administration of the President of Mexico.
"The issue of oil supplies to Cuba will be resolved through diplomatic channels, while other essential goods will be sent to the island," the statement said, quoting the words of the country's president, Claudia Sheinbaum.
The head of state reaffirmed Mexico City's commitment to supporting the Cuban people and noted that the search for fuel supply mechanisms is being carried out "out of humanitarian considerations." The document also emphasizes that Mexico's relations with all countries are based on the principles of respect and solidarity.
Sheinbaum described the recent telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump as respectful, adding that the parties are moving forward in the direction of reaching agreements in the fields of trade and security.
