In Papua New Guinea, more than 300 people and 110 houses were left under a powerful landslide, an entire village was leveled to the ground in the north of Papua New Guinea, Reuters reported, referring to the local media. Hundreds of people died as a result of the landslide. which took place in Kaokalam village of Enga province (600 kilometers northwest of the capital Port Moresby).

The landslide affected more than 300 people and 1,182 houses, the Papua New Guinea Post Courier newspaper reported, referring to the statement of Aimos Akem, a member of the country's parliament.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported on Saturday that four bodies had been recovered from the ground after rescuers arrived in the sparsely populated area, where the death toll is expected to rise.
The landslide closed the highway, so helicopters are the only way to reach the region, the TV station reported. Prime Minister James Marape said that the officials responsible for the elimination of the consequences of the natural disaster, representatives of the defense forces and the Ministry of Construction and Highways are helping with the relief and restoration work.
