The US State Department hopes that the President of Georgia will provide information on alleged election fraud

The US hopes that the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, will be able to provide the investigation with evidence of the falsification of the parliamentary elections, which she accuses the country's authorities of, said Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US State Department.

"As I understand it, he (ed.: the president of Georgia) has said that he has information about violations, so I hope that he can provide that information that will be relevant to any investigation, regardless of whether it is conducted in Georgia by the authorities or by someone else," Miller said.

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has started an investigation into possible frauds in the parliamentary elections and invited Zurabishvili to testify.

However, in response, the President of Georgia called on the prosecutor's office to deal with their cases and stop political reprisals against him.

At the press conference, Miller reminded that Washington is reviewing its relations with Georgia and has already suspended the provision of 95 million dollars in aid to the Georgian government. He also reminded that US President Joe Biden called on the Georgian government to conduct a transparent investigation of all violations in the elections.
