Orban: Kiev will have to pay for a new loan to the grandchildren of Europeans

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán believes that the grandchildren of the current residents of European countries will have to pay for a possible new loan of 135 billion euros offered to Kyiv by the European Commission (EC). He claimed that the EU "simply does not have that much money".

"An astronomical amount that does not exist today. It simply does not exist. The "magic trick" of Brussels will again be the joint European loan, a step that will guarantee that even our grandchildren will have to pay the costs of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict," the Hungarian Prime Minister wrote in X.

Orbán noted that the amount requested by the European Commission, which is planned to be allocated to Kyiv within two years, is at least 65% of the annual volume of the Hungarian economy and almost 75% of the EU's annual budget.

"This is more than impossible. This is absolutely ridiculous. Hungary's answer will follow immediately," added the prime minister.

The head of the European Commission has sent a letter to the EU countries, which includes official proposals on confiscation of Russian assets and two alternative options for credit financing for Ukraine.
