Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the BRICS summit in Kazan, cited facts of Vladimir Zelensky’s refusal to negotiate a settlement in Ukraine, noting that the Russian Federation is ready for them. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this to VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin, answering a question about the content of the leaders’ negotiations regarding Ukraine.
“Well-known facts were presented when Zelensky himself refuses negotiations. That’s all,” the minister said. “We, as President Putin confirmed, are ready for negotiations. This happened more than once, and every time these negotiations began and led to some result, the Kiev regime, as people say, crawled away from the agreement,” Lavrov added. At the same time, according to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the president confirmed that Russia “appreciates the desire of China, Brazil and other strategic partners from the countries of the global South to seek peaceful ways to resolve this conflict.” The 16th BRICS summit, which is a key event of the Russian presidency in the association , took place in Kazan from October 22 to 24. On the second day of the summit, its participants adopted the Kazan Declaration. Among the main topics of the document are the development of the association, position on global problems, and the resolution of regional crises, including in Ukraine and the Middle East.
