The General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia issued a message about the administrative actions carried out in the period of 2019-2024 in the case of October 27.
On December 27, 2019, the criminal case on the commission of a terrorist act by Nairi Hunanyan and others on October 27, 1999, separated from the criminal case (criminal proceedings) on July 11, 2004 and terminated on November 11, 2004, was resumed.
The basis for the resumption was the complaint addressed to the RA Prosecutor General by the successor of the victim, Anahit Bakhshyan, and his representative, in which the latter asked to cancel the decision of the Deputy Head of the Investigative Department of the RA Prosecutor General's Office to terminate the criminal case proceedings on November 11, 2004. During the resumed investigation, a life sentence Nairi Hunanyan was interrogated and testified about the circumstances of the incident. Members of the terrorist group, convicts Karen Hunanyan, Derenik Bejanyan and Ashot Knyazyan were also interrogated during the investigation.
The personal files of the other members of the group, Eduard Grigoryan, Vram Galstyan, and Hamlet Stepanyan, were seized from the relevant penitentiary institutions in order to clarify a number of questions regarding the causes of their death. forensic volumes of the criminal case and recordings attached to the criminal case, other materials, files of interest regarding the case were seized from the RA police and other units. During the preliminary investigation, video-recorded examinations were appointed with video recordings and audio recordings, and their conclusions were obtained. In the course of the criminal case (proceedings) during the years 2019-2024, 24 witnesses, 4 convicts, 1 face-to-face meeting was held. Instructions were given to various operative units regarding the circumstances of the case. in order to clarify various issues. Various documents and electronic media attached to the materials of the criminal proceedings were examined, including video recordings. According to the decision of the Chief Prosecutor on February 14, 2024, the investigation committee was assigned to continue the preliminary investigation in the criminal proceedings. The investigation is in progress.
