Candidates for members of the Council of Elders from the "Balasanyan Alliance" list have withdrawn

The Electoral District Election Commission No. 31 received resignation applications from 5 councilor candidates included in the list of the "Balasanyan Bloc" social party: Hovsep Martirosyan, Menua Mkrtchyan, Hasmik Samsonyan, Hovik Hakobyan, Suren Janoyan. The electoral commission convened a meeting to discuss the self-dismissal applications and make a decision. 6 out of 7 members of the commission participated in the session.
As "Armenpress" informs, the applications were submitted with notarization, the applicants were not present at the session. None of them were sitting councilors.
"If it was handwritten or without authentication, then they should definitely be present and certify their renunciation. The latter did not state a reason for their resignation", said the chairman of the committee, Tigran Ghazaryan, in a conversation with journalists, informing that there is one person left on the electoral list of the "Balasanyan Bloc" social party, Emma Hovhannisyan, who does not have a mandate in the council of elders. He did not submit a resignation application to the commission, he is not in the country.
Gyumri Deputy Mayor Suren Janoyan, who is under house arrest, is also on the list of those leaving the list of the "Balasanyan" bloc according to their own applications.
The commission has not yet received a protocol on the resignation of the council members' mandates by the "Balasanyan" alliance.

On October 11, "Balasanyan Alliance" failed the session of the Gyumri Council of Elders by its absence. By his own decision, Mayor Vardges Samsonyan made a decision to temporarily perform work duties remotely from October 15, and then returned to work.
The youngest son of the former mayor of Gyumri, Samvel Balasanyan, is under house arrest on a bail of 70 million drams. The proceedings are related to the expropriation of lands adjacent to the "Black Fortress" of Gyumri, which were not subject to expropriation according to the Land Code.
Ruben Sanoyan, the former deputy mayor of Gyumri, the husband of Samvel Balasanyan's sister, who was arrested and then released, is also involved in the case. And the current deputy mayor of Gyumri, Suren Janoyan, and Sirekan Mkoyan, one of Balasanyan's close family members, are under house arrest on bail of 20 million drams each.
Samvel Balasanyan is the fifth person involved in the case of expropriation of lands adjacent to the "Black Fort" fortress of Gyumri. A decision was made to arrest the former mayor of Gyumri, Samvel Balasanyan, who is abroad.
