Turkey's level of water in Istanbul has fallen below 28% in the reservoirs of Istanbul. According to RIA Novosti, if there are no precipitation, this volume will be enough for another 75 days.
Istanbul's Water Supply and Sewerage Department (̇ski̇) announced on Friday that the city reservoirs are 27.8% (241.3 million cubic meters from 868 million). This is the worst indicator in the last ten years, except for 2023, when the reservoirs were filled with only 16% on the same date.
Since April, reserves have decreased steadily from 80%. Only only one of the ten reservoirs nourishing the city is currently more than 25%, and four are less than 2%.
The city with a population of more than 16 million consumes about 3.18 million cubic meters of water a day, claims the administration, calling the citizens to save water.
The meteorologists of the Istanbul Municipality predict that there will be heavy precipitation in the capital next week.
