Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin has denied the assumptions that Armenia's membership in the CIS is under threat.
"Membership in the CIS is on a voluntary basis," the diplomat said.
According to the official, Armenia and Azerbaijan often join the joint statements and documents adopted at different levels, which indicates the normalization of relations between the two countries.
Pankin expressed hope that the process of normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations will also play a positive role in further participation in countries in the CIS.
