The number of first graders in Ukraine has decreased

The number of first graders in Ukraine decreased by 20% compared to the previous year due to low birth rate and country of citizens, Sergei Babak, head of the Verkhovi Rada Education, Science and Innovation Committee.

"This year, about 252 thousand first graders will attend school. Last year, their number was 314 thousand. In other words, we have minus 62 thousand children. Reasons are obvious, the decline in birthright and the mass emigration of children "
"In 2025, children of six years old almost never took abroad, on the contrary, some people return.

However, the consequences of that period and the overall negative demographics, the decline in the birth rate will be felt for a long time. The number of first graders will continue to decline, this is inevitable, "Babak said in an interview with Zerkalo Nedel.

Referring to the Ukrainian Ministry of Social Policy, the United States said in early July that the population of employment in Ukraine decreased by 40% compared to 2021.
