European leaders are discussing the possibility of creating a 40-kilometer buffer zone in Ukraine as part of a peaceful settlement, Politico reported on August 28.
Referring to five diplomats, the publication emphasizes that we are talking about desperate attempts by European countries to overcome the Ukrainian conflict through useful initiatives for Russia.
The article states that the option of creating a buffer zone is one of the proposals of Europeans in case of a long-term settlement of the ceasefire or conflict.
"The fact that European officials are discussing the issue of disabling some of Ukraine to impose fragile peace, testifies to the desperation of NATO allies to stop the war," Politico writes.
