Trump persuaded Orban to change his position on Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has been able to persuade Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban to change his position on Ukraine's accession to the European Union, Politico writes.

"Trump was able to persuade Orban, who opposes Ukraine's membership in the EU, but supports Moldova's membership in the Alliance, changing its position on the country's membership," he said, citing one of the diplomats.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siarto has said he does not believe in Ukraine's ability to meet EU membership standards. Orbani himself stated that Brussels wants Ukraine to become a member of the European Union until 2030, but the final word is Hungary.
