The former APP football player has been sentenced to 7 years in prison

The former football player of "Wigan" Netherlands Roni Stam has been sentenced to 7 years in prison, The Sun reports.

Stam 41 was found guilty of smuggling more than two tons of cocaine. The market value of the drug was 48.6 million pounds.

The former football player was facing 13 years in prison, as the prosecutor's office considered him a major player in the Dutch criminal world. However, Stam avoided two more severe accusations.

Roni Stam has been found guilty of 724 kilograms of cocaine and MDMA's (ecstasy) for maintaining nitrogen (known as "Laughter's Gas").

Stam first denied the accusations against him.

"I have nothing to do with large batches of cocaine. Those guys did it, and I stayed away, "he said.

Later, however, Stam admitted that he took part in the possession of 20 kilograms of cocaine from Brazil to Frankfurt.
