An agreement on the establishment of a new Caledonia has been signed in Paris

An agreement has been signed on the establishment of a new Caledonia in the medical suburbs of Paris.

French President Emanuel Mcron described the agreement "historic". According to him, negotiations with the participation of the elected representatives of the new Caledonia lasted 10 days.

French Prime Minister Francois Bayru has welcomed the agreement on the establishment of a "unique formation", noting that it will be enriched in the French Constitution.

According to media reports, the document envisages the creation of a new state, which will partly depend on France. The residents of New Caledonia are expected to receive individual citizenship and will be able to have two passports. In addition, the new state can be authorized to pursue its own international policy.

Last year, there was riots in New Caledonia, when the French parliament had adopted a law on changing the local legislative elections on the island. The French government has stated a state of emergency and sent soldiers to New Caledonia.

The relations between Paris and Baku were heated around New Caledonia. France has accused Azerbaijan of interfering in the internal affairs of the new Caledonia and to provoke unrest on the Pacific Island.
