The Turkish authorities have closed down the radio station, on the air of which one of the guests mentioned the Armenian Genocide

Istanbul's Acik Radyo radio station reported that it was closed by the authorities' decision. As reported by AFP, the journalists promised to find a way to continue the work. The persecution of the Acik Radyo radio station began after one of the station's guests spoke about the Armenian Genocide on air in April.

Not long after that, in May, the watchdog suspended the station's broadcasts for five days, accusing it of "inciting hatred."

In July, the authorities took away the license from Acik Radyo, but the radio station continued to work for several months. Turkish authorities at all levels refuse to recognize genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1923. mass killings and exile of the Armenian population. This year, Turkey ranked 158 out of 180 in the press freedom index, which is published annually by the international organization "Correspondents without Borders".
