On May 12, 2025, a scientific-practical workshop dedicated to the complex management of UNESCO World Heritage facilities was held at the National University of Architecture and Construction. "The Tatev monastery complex and Vorotan gorge were in the center of attention, which has been a unique historical and cultural and natural combination, which has been included in the initial list of UNESCO World Heritage since 1995. The project was prepared by specialists of the Re-School Scientific-Educational Project, Cultural Heritage Preservation and Reinvalification.
The organizers of the event are "301. Wisdom Country "and" Amaryan "Foundations, in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage. The National University of Architecture and Construction has shown its constant support for both the project development and conducting the scientific-practical workshop. The scientific supervisor of the project is Narine Tutchyan, a member of ICOMOS, professor of the International Academy of Architecture, Head of the Re-School Educational Center. "For the first time in the history of Armenia, not only a prominent architectural monument, but also a complete cultural landscape, which unites Tatev monastery complex and the Vorotan gorge.
This is not only a unique investment aimed at preserving the heritage, but also the action of ensuring Armenia's existing security, which confirms our right to knowledge and identity. " Within the framework of the project, a number of scientific campaigns and field research were carried out in 2023-2024, the result of which became the original nominal dossier of the object. The total area of the nominated area was 7,490 hectares, the buffer zone, 20 180 hectares. The complex includes Tatev monastery, monastic congregations, Vorotan gorge, from Neolith to ancient times, churches, chapels, cemeteries, agricultural landscapes, and historical infrastructure, water supply, caravansis, bridges and roads.
The conference became an open professional platform for discussing the challenges related to such extensive and multifunctional management. During the event, the successful international experience was documented, the general issues and risks were revealed, practical approaches were developed for the development of Heritage and its local communities, as well as the development of state-private partnership.
