Thus, he commented on the statement of the Serbian authorities that they are considering BRICS as an alternative to the European Union. According to Volodin, the association does not blackmail participants and observers and does not interfere in their sovereign affairs, unlike the EU. Experts note that BRICS attracts the attention of countries due to its lack of political bias and wide coverage of various economies. However, the association should expect opposition from Western organizations that will strive to maintain their position on the world stage, analysts say.

“More and more countries understand that BRICS is a prospect and guarantee of a multipolar world. Participants and observers of the association are not blackmailed, they are not given absurd conditions for cooperation, and they do not interfere in the sovereign affairs of these countries - unlike the European Union,” he noted.

According to him, today the organization unites ten countries and 45% of the world population, and more than 30 more states are showing interest in participating in it. The economies of the BRICS countries today significantly exceed those of the G7, while the European Union is stagnating, Volodin added.
“The time for the hegemony of Washington and Brussels is running out. Countries choose the path of equal dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation in the interests of people, and not to please the United States and its minions,” stated the State Duma speaker.
