Istanbul agreements can be based on the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this at a press conference, according to RIA Novosti. In his opinion, in 2022 the parties were very close to the signing of the ceasefire agreement.
Lavrov said he did not hear Vitkov's statements on this issue, but said that Russia had repeatedly made such a proposal.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that in Istanbul, we probably remained an hour from the signing of the full agreement on the principles offered by Ukrainians, but the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has banned it," he said.
