Due to the bird flu epidemic in the US, the supply of eggs has been reduced, as a result of which the prices have reached a record level. This situation has created a new opportunity for Turkey: the country is preparing to export 22 thousand tons of eggs to the US.
Ibrahim Afyon, the president of "Central Union of Egg Production" of Turkey, confirmed thatthat exports have already started and are expected to continue until July. In total, 1,000 containers of eggs (22,000 tons) will be sent to the US, and negotiations for an additional 320 containers are still ongoing.
Afyon noted that the export will be carried out by companies meeting high standards.and so far three companies have already signed a contract.
As a result of the transaction, Turkey may have an income of about 37 million dollars. It should be noted that Turkey's egg production exceeds domestic demand and export will not have a negative impact on domestic market prices.
