US President Donald Trump's statements about the need to hold presidential elections in Ukraine indicate that he wants to get rid of Volodymyr Zelensky. The British magazine The Economist writes about this, citing sources.
"Trump apparently wants to get rid of Zelensky,whom he never liked and whom he considers a difficult person," the interviewer of the publication notes. "It is not about elections, but about getting rid of Zelensky," he added.
According to the magazine, in theory, Ukraine could continue military operations by rejecting Trump's offer to hold peace talks with Russia.however, in practice, such a development will lead to a rapid deterioration of the situation in Kyiv.
As noted in the publication, the Armed Forces of Ukraine "have serious problems at the operational level and there is an almost complete lack of strategic planning, there is an acute shortage of personnel in front-line units,and some brigades have been reduced to a third of their usual strength.'
