Media: Hegseth told Ukrainian officials about the possibility of withdrawing US troops from the EU

Pentagon chief Pete Hegsett has privately told Ukrainian officials that the United States is considering withdrawing a significant portion of American forces from Europe, NBC reported, citing US government officials.

On Monday, Financial Times columnist Gideon Rahman, citing unnamed officials, reported that US President Donald Trump may decide to withdraw American troops from the Baltic states amid negotiations with Russia on the Ukrainian conflict, which, as he noted, could have serious consequences not only for Ukraine, but also for Europe.

According to the journalist, the United States has stopped being seen by Europeans as "an ally they can count on".

"Hegseth stunned Ukrainians when he told them during a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky that the Trump administration was considering withdrawing most US forces from Europe."- the report says.

NBC added that the intention voiced by US government officials worried Ukrainian officials.
