The US administration is still waiting for alternatives to US President Donald Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip from Middle Eastern countries, but no such proposals have been received yet. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this on Sirius Satellite Radio on Monday.
He noted that the Gaza Strip has suffered serious damage as a result of military operations between Israel and the Palestinian radical Hamas movement, so serious efforts will be required to restore it.
"At this point, the only one who has stood up and said that he is ready to help in this matter is Donald Trump. All other leaders need to take action. If they have a better idea, then the time has come. Now is the time for other governments and other forces in the region to present proposals, but none of them are doing so," Rubio said.
On February 4, the US President announced in a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after talks at the White House that Washington is considering long-term ownership of the Gaza Strip in order to develop it for the benefit of peace in the Middle East.
