The United States can acquire the Gaza Strip, establish control over it and then restore it with the help of Arab countries, US President Donald Trump once again stated this in a conversation with reporters on the presidential plane.
"I am committed to the idea of buying the Gaza Strip and owning it. As for restoring it with our own forces, we can entrust the reconstruction of some parts of it to other countries in the Middle East. Others can do it under our auspices," - the Associated Press quotes Trump as saying. The president emphasized that the United States "must take and own Gaza" and make sure that the radical Hamas movement "does not return there." As for the prospect of Palestinians living in the enclave, Trump considers it impossible.
"It is not subject to return. That place is in ruins. The rest of it will be demolished," he said. The US president is pushing the idea of forcibly relocating hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from Gaza. He said that after a conversation with him, Arab countries will agree to accept the Palestinians.
Trump is convinced that the Palestinians will leave Gaza if they have a choice. On February 4, at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, Donald Trump announced that Washington would take over the Gaza Strip, possibly with the help of American troops, and turn it into a Middle Eastern Riviera.
He said that the Palestinians living there must leave. Arab countries, Iran and a number of Western countries have opposed this.
