Today, February 10, lawyers will hold a protest "strike" by refusing to defend or represent their clients in court.
The reason is the authorities' application of tax policy towards lawyers.
Lawyers demand that the RA government exempt the provision of legal services, especially free and voluntary legal aid, from value-added tax.
According to them, the introduction of a new tax will hit the pockets of citizens, as it will lead to an increase in the price of legal services.
It should be noted that from January 1, 2025, according to the new tax, a transition from a 5 percent turnover tax to a value-added tax is planned. For legal services providers, VAT will be 20 percent, and profit tax will be 18 percent.
