Azerbaijanis consider Dadivank to be a Udi spiritual structure, but the reality is different

Geghard Foundation: Dadivank (Khutavank) is one of the famous medieval Armenian monastic complexes, the first bibliographic mentions of which refer to the 9th century. According to tradition, the church was founded by St. By Dade, a follower of the apostle Thaddeus, in the 1st century. It was a major religious and cultural center of Khachen. The main church is the Catholic Holy Sign, which was built in 1214 by Arzukhatun, the wife of Vakhtang, the Armenian great prince of Haterk. It is known that in Dadivank in 1184, Mkhitar Gosh finished his famous "Judgment Book of Armenians". Many khachkars and wall inscriptions in the Armenian language have been preserved in the territory of the monastery complex. From May 2021, the entry of Armenians to the occupied Dadivank territory was prohibited by the Azerbaijanis.

Although the Udis are Christians and have been culturally influenced by the Armenian people, they were followers of the Armenian Apostolic Church, but the church architecture and material culture of Dadivank testify to the Armenianness of the monastery complex.
