2020 the war, the depopulation of Artsakh would not have happened if Armenia was a member of the EU. Tigran Khzmalyan (video)

The European integration process of Armenia is gathering new momentum. Having close cooperation with Europe, official Yerevan is now taking practical steps towards joining the European Union. At the session of January 9, the RA government approved the "European Union of Armenia "On the initiation of the accession process of the Republic" to the RA law draft, which will be submitted to the National Assembly for discussion in the established order.

The discussion of the project reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan was preceded by a certain political process.

In June last year, parliamentary hearings were held in the National Assembly on the topic of putting Armenia's application for membership in the European Union to a referendum, then a number of pro-Western forces loyal to the country's political power organized a signature collection under the slogan "Euro Vote". in the territory of the republic, collecting signatures of 50 thousand citizens.

As a citizen's initiative, the draft law on the initiation of Armenia's accession to the EU was submitted to the National Assembly for discussion, and now the government had to express a position on the draft.

In his speech, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the government's position is not to object to the adoption of the law, but he also emphasized that the decision to join the European Union should be made not by law or at the level of a government decision, but exclusively through a referendum, as stipulated by the Constitution of Armenia.

What are the prospects of Armenia's accession to the European Union and to what extent is it possible in the near future, taking into account the experience of neighboring countries, such as Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, as well as Armenia's accession to another integration structure, the Eurasian Economic Union.

Head of the European Party of Armenia Tigran Khzmalyan, one of the initiators of Eurovote, is satisfied with the government's decision.

of Euromedia24 TVhe mentioned that their initiative will insist that the government, without waiting for anything else, submit an application for membership to the European Union.

Tigran Khzmalyan.

"Our initiative, which was crowned with success, forced them to face that need, and we are proud that we were able to express the will of a significant part of the nation, I think, the majority." According to Khzmalyan, the decision should be made through a referendum. Article 205 of the RA constitution stipulates: "Questions related to the membership of the Republic of Armenia in supranational international organizations, as well as changes in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, are resolved through referendums."

Despite the fact that many countries have been knocking on the door of the European Union for tens of years, but have not yet reached the status of EU member, Tigran Khzmalyan is overly optimistic in this matter.

He is sure that Armenia can get the status of EU member this year, and will become a full member of the European Union in 2030. And the question of why Armenia needs EU membership is strange The European Union is not a security structure and does not have a serious military-political component, Tigran Khzmalyan, as a sworn pro-Westerner, believes that the war of 2020 and the subsequent depopulation of Artsakh would not have happened if Armenia was a member of the EU.

Tigran Khzmalyan.

"The war of 2020 and the depopulation of Artsakh in 2023 answered your question: what does Armenia need to join the European Union? It is quite strange to ask that question again. We have seen that the politics of the last decades and the geopolitical choice, which was followed by the different authorities of Armenia, is bankrupt, and the membership of the European Union, and then also of NATO, is the only and main means by which Armenia can ensure its security and state existence".

Hayk Babukhanyan, one of the old residents of the Armenian political field, the chairman of the "Constitutional Law Union" party, has a diametrically opposed opinion regarding the European integration process of Armenia.

of Euromedia24 TVin a conversation with Hayk Babukhanyan stated that the goal of Armenia's accession to the EU is to destroy Armenia as a state. Hayk Babukhanyan.

"It is another aggression against the Armenian people, a process initiated by hostile forces, the purpose of which is to destroy Armenia as a state and leave nothing of Armenia, which was started by Nikol and continues with the parties supporting him. by

It is obvious that it leads Armenia to the grave, and we will lose not only as we lost Artsakh, we lost Nakhichevan, before that, Surmalu, because of the so-called Armenians who thought the same way and served the same forces. before: Kars, etc. In other words, there are forces that serve the interests of foreigners, and this is one of the processes that serve the interests of foreigners.

And the only salvation for Armenia, if we want Armenia to remain as a state, then the only solution is to become a member of the Russia-Belarus union state, the sooner, the better."

Further developments will show what position the parliamentary forces will express regarding the submitted project and what procedures are necessary to officially submit Armenia's bid.

According to Nikol Pashinyan, after the adoption of the law, there should be a discussion between Armenia and the European Union about the development of a road map.

Armenia has nothing to do before the start of the negotiations on the creation of the road map.
