Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated that the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union are incompatible and declared that Armenia should make a choice.
"Both associations imply the absence of customs borders, freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and labor. It is impossible to imagine that these two unions will unite at some point. The draft law "On the start of the process of joining the European Union" discussed in RA puts this country in front of a choice.
If Yerevan's relations with EAEU are terminated, the prices of energy and food in Armenia will increase, and the export of Armenian goods will be reduced by 80 percent. Instead, they will most likely receive a visa-free regime (with European countries), and Armenia will receive depopulation. Now it is becoming more and more obvious that membership of the EAEU is a privilege, and given the economic and social problems that the European Union is facing, EU membership can be compared to buying a ticket on the Titanic," concluded Overchuk.
