Today, January 3, a tragic incident took place in Yerevan. At around 11:20, the Mashtots Department of the Main Police Department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs received operational information that a citizen crossed the barrier of the Kiev bridge, appeared on a dangerous edge and threatened to throw himself down.
As photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports from the scene, before the operation group of Mashtots police department arrived, led by department head Samvel Khmelyan, deputy head of department Gevorg Poghosyan, as well as the patrols of the 1st company of the 4th battalion of the Yerevan Police Patrol Service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, the regiment Commander Andranik Isakhanyan, Battalion Commander Arsen Stepanyan and under the leadership of company commander Armen Zakaryan, the citizen threw himself down. The emergency team of Yerevan 103 emergency doctors who arrived at the scene recorded the man's death.
The information about the incident was transferred from Mashtots Police Department to the Ajapnyak and Davtashen Administrative Districts Investigation Department of Yerevan City Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee, from where the investigative team headed by Edgar Baloyan, head of the department, and Karen Potosyan, senior investigator for particularly important cases, arrived.
As a result of the incident, a criminal proceeding was initiated in the investigative department. While the investigative team was working at the scene, Mashtots policemen and patrolmen of the 4th battalion of the Yerevan police station found out that the deceased is 63-year-old Samvel H., a resident of Yerevan.
