An energy crisis has begun in Iran

The situation leads to about 15 thousand electricity during the peak demand period. MW deficit. Frequent power outages create serious problems for industry and citizens.

In some regions, many factories and government institutions have stopped working, and schools have switched to distance learning.

Lack of investment in oil-rich Iran's energy infrastructure leads to power outages, and blackouts in industrial and residential areas create economic and social problems.

According to estimates, power outages in Iran lead to annual losses of industrial production in the range of 5-8 billion US dollars.

In the current situation, Iran will look for new opportunities to import electricity in the foreseeable future, especially for its northern provinces, which traditionally have a shortage of electricity.

That is why it is so important for Yerevan today to define as a geo-economic priority the construction of a new Iran-Armenia power transmission line, increasing electricity supplies from 400 to 1200 MW.

Today, when Azerbaijan is in the conditions of a sharp reduction in electricity exports (by 55% in January-November of this year), there are good prospects for Armenia in terms of strengthening its own energy role in the region.

The main thing remains to seriously engage in energy diplomacy.
