The presidential elections were held in Georgia, because more than half of the members of the 300-person electoral college have already participated in them.
Natia Ioseliani, press secretary of the Central Electoral Commission of Georgia, announced this in a briefing.
"170 members of the Electoral College have already participated in the voting process, according to that, the elections have been held, because more than half of the full composition of the Electoral College has already participated in them," he said.
As Ioseliani noted, voting will last until 14:00 local time, after which the CEC will start counting votes.
